Nurse entry to practice programme (NEtP)

NEtPOur Nursing Entry to Practice Programme (NEtP) is approved by the Nursing Council of New Zealand and is focused on helping the nursing graduate to achieve competence, developing the diversity of skills required  in your clinical area. We offer placements in general and primary health care settings. Our aim is for you to feel well supported, preceptored and coached.

NEtP eligibility

To be eligible for the NEtP programme you need to

  • Be about to sit and pass your state examination from a New Zealand BHS (NSG) programme
  • Be within six months of sitting states exam
  • Commit to a 12 month programme
  • Be willing to achieve programme requirements
  • Hold (or be in the process of applying for) New Zealand permanent residency
  • Apply through the ACE process

We offer

  • Six weeks supernumary and 4 weeks more of mirrored shifts with you preceptors
  • Committed clinical support from Nurse Educators
  • Minimum 3 Orientation days
  • Plus minimum 12 study days
  • Six extra days to visit other areas of specialities (Primary health care only)
  • Additional service based tutorials
  • A funded 30pt postgraduate paper through AUT as part of Post Graduate Certificate-Advanced Nursing Practice
